I have been waiting for the updated guidelines from the Government before contacting you about the next two planned FORA events, the latest government advice is “Everyone should stop non-essential contact with others. This is particularly important for people over 70, or those with underlying health problems.”
With this in mind I feel it is only right to cancel the ‘Great British Spring Clean’ planned for the 28th March, and our next meeting on the 23rd April. As yet I have not had an update relating to the Lancashire Best Kept Village Competition, if I hear anything I will let you know.
My own suggestion would be that we can all got out at a time and date to suit us while keeping a distance from others to do our bit of litter picking.
I am sure you all understand the gravity of the situation and hope you all keep safe and well.

Come along to our next informal meeting of the FRIENDS OF ROUGHLEE APPEARANCE (FORA).
A group of residents that has been formed to do an odd job or two, augmenting the work that is already done by the village gardener and lengths man.
The idea is to bring local people together to do their bit for our village’s appearance, with the aim of winning the Best Kept Village Competition.
During the summer months, we’re arranging regular sessions for ‘Balsam Bashing’ – our next one will be publicised here. Please can you bring your own black bags and gloves, also if you intend to pull out the Balsam then suggest long sleeves and trousers. Click here to get further information on the destructive nature of the Himalayan Balsam plant which is prevalent in our area (pdf download).
Thanks to everyone for attending and also for agreeing to help with various tasks. New volunteers are very welcome and can either attend the next meeting or contact Nigel direct by email ([email protected]) or phone (01282 693329).
